Licensing the Selling, Purchasing, Possessing, and Carrying of Certain Firearms

This rule set addresses the submission of a letter in lieu of fingerprints for certain persons applying for firearms-related licenses. However, the authority for this rule set no longer exists and the department does not have the authority to accept a letter in lieu of applicant fingerprints. The statutory authority for these rules was eliminated when the pertinent portions of the Firearms Act (MCL 28.422 and MCL 28.426) were amended by Public Act 381 of 2000, which was effective July 1, 2001.
