Engler Names Truck Safety Commissioners
Governor John Engler today announced the reappointments of Gerald G. Basch, Harold H.
Bondy, Walter G. Heinritzi, Warren F. Lasch, Peter J. Lima, John E. Theroux, and William
C. Taylor to the Michigan Truck Safety Commission. Terms expire on August 4, 1997.
"These individuals understand Michigan's trucking industry and the importance of
its safety standards. As members of the Truck Safety Commission, their combined expertise
has provided invaluable insights," Engler said.
- Gerald G. Basch, of Brighton, is reappointed to represent the general public. Basch is
Community Services Safety Manager for AAA of Michigan.
- Harold H. Bondy, of Detroit, is reappointed to represent organized labor. Bondy is the
former Executive Director of Teamsters - DRIVE.
- Walter G. Heinritzi, of Lansing, is reappointed to represent the Michigan Trucking
Association. He is the Executive Director of the Michigan Trucking Association.
- Warren F. Lasch, of East Lansing, is reappointed to represent the general public. Lasch
is the President of Bavarian Motor Transport, Inc., based in Okemos.
- Peter J. Lima, of Alto, is reappointed to represent private motor carriers. Lima is
Transportation Manager for Spartan Stores, Inc. in Grand Rapids, and has extensive
background in transportation and fleet maintenance.
- John E. Theroux, of Holt, is reappointed to represent community colleges. Theroux is the
Program Director of Truck Driver Training at Lansing Community College.
- William C. Taylor, of East Lansing, is reappointed to represent four year colleges and
universities. Taylor is a professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental
Engineering at Michigan State University.
