with the State of Michigan

Two agencies are involved, one to register your business (Office of Financial Management) and the other that actually conducts the buying process (Office of Purchasing). All qualified vendors, whether individuals, small businesses, or large corporations, are invited to compete for the state's business.

How to Become a Registered Vendor

Register the Company's vital information with the Office of Financial Management (OFM). They've prepared a State of Michigan Vendor/Payee Registration Packet that contains all the necessary froms required to register with the state. Completion of these registration materials is necessary in order to receive bids, contract awards, or payments from the State of Michigan.
Get the packet. To request this packet contact the Vendor Payee Information Desk at the Office of Financial Management by calling (517) 373-4111 or (888) 734-9749 and following the phone-in procedures. You'll also have the option to speak with an operator directly.
Complete the Registration Form (DMB-219) and the Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification (Form W-9).
Mail or fax the information back to the Office of Financial Management at:

2 - Request a bid by calling the Office of Purchasing at (517) 373-0330. The voice mail system is generally available seven days a week, 24 hours per day. Identify the firm name, address, vendor number, and the requested bid number(s). Requests are generally mailed on the next state business day.
